BERKELEY, NJ — Developers are proposing a few changes to the plan for the upcoming Berkeley Town Center, which will be built upon where the Beachwood Mall once sat.
The property has undergone several changes throughout the years, but now is set to once again become a shopping center.
The developers, Berkeley Shopping Center Urban Renewal, LLC, have filed an application with the Berkeley Township Planning Board to amend their previously-approved application.
Initially approved for the site were a 4,834 square-foot Sparks Car Wash (Building B1), a 2,829 square-foot Burger King fast food restaurant with drive-thru (Building B2), a 2,378 square-foot Taco Bell fast food restaurant with drive-thru (Building B3), a 2,665 square-foot Bojangles fast food restaurant with drive-thru (Building B4), a 510 square-foot fast food restaurant with drive-thru (Building B5), a 2,400 square-foot fast food restaurant with drive-thru (Building B6) and a 2,250 square-foot fast food restaurant with drive-thru (Building B7).
Also previously approved were a 83,000 square-foot supermarket, a 125,000 square-foot retail building and a 44,124 square-foot retail building.
The new proposal seeks to move B5, B6 and B7, expand the 510 square-foot building into a 2,400 square-foot fast food restaurant with drive-thru and reconfigure the parking lot to add extra spots.
Developers are also seeking variances and design waivers.
The proposal will go before the planning board at their Oct. 15 meeting. It will be held at 6 p.m. at Town Hall (627 Pinewald Keswick Road). At this time, members of the public are welcome to ask questions and share their thoughts.
