• Changes Proposed For Upcoming Berkeley Town Center (patch.com) — Berkeley residents are being asked to weigh in on updated plans for the new Berkeley Town Center at the former Beachwood Mall site, including relocated fast-food buildings, a larger drive-thru restaurant, and more parking. The revised proposal, which still includes a supermarket and major retail space, will be reviewed by the Berkeley Township Planning Board on Oct. 15 at Town Hall.
• Ocean County Approves Nearly 90 Acres for Open Space and Farmland Preservation (lakewoodalerts.com) — Berkeley residents will see 1.22 acres near Route 9 permanently preserved, potentially linking existing local trails with the large NJ Pulverizing tract and Barnegat Branch Trail. Ocean County also preserved land in Eagleswood and Plumsted and will ask voters in November to approve a small tax increase to expand its Natural Lands Trust Fund for future acquisitions and maintenance.
