Today's riddle: What is clean when it is black and dirty when it is white? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. $2 Million-Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Bayville (patch.com) — A lucky ticket sold at Country Food Market on Route 9 in Bayville has scored a $2 million Mega Millions prize for an Ocean County player, thanks to a 2X multiplier. While no one hit the jackpot, Berkeley-area residents now know their local store sold one of the game's biggest recent New Jersey winners, as the top prize rolls to $364 million for Friday.
2. Changes Proposed For Future Of Former Beachwood Mall Site (patch.com) — Developers are asking Berkeley's Planning Board on Oct. 15 to approve changes to the long-awaited Berkeley Town Center project on the former Beachwood Mall site, including moving several fast-food buildings and adding parking. Residents can attend the 6 p.m. Town Hall meeting on Pinewald Keswick Road to ask questions and share their views on how this major shopping center will shape the township.
3. Ocean County Approves Nearly 90 Acres for Open Space and Farmland Preservation (lakewoodalerts.com) — Ocean County has preserved a 1.22-acre parcel in Berkeley Township near Route 9, potentially expanding local trail connections to the Barnegat Branch Trail and other preserved land. The move is part of a nearly 90-acre countywide preservation effort and may be supported by a proposed November ballot question to increase funding for future open space projects.
4. Tyler Webb Remembered At Car Show Bearing His Name (jerseyshoreonline.com) — Berkeley residents recently packed Veterans Park for the first Rescue, Wrench and Ride memorial car show honoring Tyler Webb, a township mechanic and volunteer firefighter. Along with hundreds of vehicles and thousands of visitors, Berkeley Township permanently dedicated its municipal garage as Webb's Automotive, while event proceeds will fund a new foundation offering scholarships and help for people in need.
