BERKELEY, NJ — A new halal food restaurant is coming to Bayville.
The news was shared by Councilman James Byrnes.
J4 Halal Food is setting up shop in Berkeley Plaza, he shared.
A sign posted outside the restaurant advertises "crispy grill & bubble tea."
No opening date has been announced. The sign reads "coming soon."
"Wishing them all the best as they prepare to welcome customers!" Byrnes wrote.
Halal food refers to meat slaughtered following Islamic dietary law. "Halal" means "permissible" in Arabic.
Halal restaurants often offer platters of meat, rice and sauces. They serve Mediterranean and Middle Eastern specialties like gyro, kebab and more.
