Andy Kim: Impeach President Trump If The Facts Are Corroborated
Andy Kim: 'Trump has violated that power and the trust of the American people.'

Congressman Andy Kim called for possible impeachment of President Donald Trump. Kim said President Trump should be impeached if facts are corroborated that he urged the Ukrainian government to influence the next presidential election.
President Trump said Saturday that he spoke to the Ukrainian president about "Vice President Joe Biden and his son."
The Washington Post reported Monday that President Trump threatened to hold back $400 million in military aid for Ukraine to pressure their president into investigating Biden's son, Hunter. President Trump told reporters Tuesday he delayed payment to Ukraine because other countries should contribute more.

"I believe the Commander in Chief role is the most sacred responsibility of the Presidency, and it is the last place where partisan politics belongs," Kim said Tuesday in a statement. "We hold this highest of standards because we know the incredible power of that singular office. It is a power that has the potential for doing incredible good, but if corrupted, it weakens America’s national security, international standing and the framework of our very Democracy."
Kim had not publicly expressed support for impeaching President Trump until his Tuesday statement. He has voted against previous impeachment resolutions in Congress.

Kim isn't the first member of Congress representing New Jersey to express support this week for possible impeachment. Rep. Mikie Sherrill issued a joint statement with six other freshman Democratic leaders calling for a push toward it. Read more: Impeach Trump? Congress Should Investigate, Rep. Sherrill Says
"This decision does not come easily," Kim said. "My focus as your member of Congress remains on the people of Burlington and Ocean Counties. We have to work to lower health care and prescription drug costs, lower taxes and support our veterans. We have to break through the hyperpartisanship and find real meaningful ways to work across the aisle."
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry Tuesday afternoon, according to reports.
Kim represents New Jersey's 3rd District, which includes municipalities in Ocean and Burlington Counties.
Currently 173 House Democrats support action toward impeachment, according to NBC News. Independent Rep. Justin Amash — formerly a Republican — has also called for impeachment.

In backing impeachment, @AndyKimNJ has made it clear he’s thumbing his nose at his constituents who elected President Trump by 6 points. He has no interest in doing anything but pandering to the socialist left. It’ll cost him his seat.https://t.co/nQ9DSxr1AH #NJ03 #NJpolitics https://t.co/bZwOVWG43Q
