Bayville Gym To Host 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

The Bayville event on Sept. 11 will honor firefighters lost in the 2001 attacks and support national programs.

BERKELEY, NJ — Retro Fitness Bayville will host a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, inviting local first responders, members and community residents to take part in an event tied to the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

According to the event announcement, the Bayville gym is partnering with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation for the program. The event is part of a nationwide Retro Fitness initiative that asks participants to climb 110 flights, or 2,071 steps, to represent the height of the World Trade Center towers and honor the 343 FDNY firefighters killed on Sept. 11, 2001.

The event will be held at Retro Fitness Bayville, 333 Atlantic City Blvd. The announcement says participants can register through Retro Fitness' fundraising platform at retrofitness.com/donate.

In addition to the stair climb, participants can support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation through in-club fundraising efforts. According to the announcement, those efforts will benefit Fire Hero Families and firefighter programs nationwide.

The event is also open to all first responders, who are invited to work out for free at Retro Fitness locations on Sept. 11. Registered participants will receive a commemorative event T-shirt while supplies last, according to the announcement.

The T-shirts will be distributed to people who take part in the club's 9/11 class, climb 110 flights of stairs, walk 2,071 steps, or walk 2 miles. Retro Fitness Bayville also will have raffles and vendors as part of the local event.
