Bayville Teen Cancer Survivors Honored At Rutgers Football Game
Braylon Corbino and Dayton Frulio, former Central Regional teammates, were recognized at the Oct. 3 game.

BERKELEY, NJ — Two Bayville cancer survivors and former Central Regional High School football teammates were honored during Rutgers' Oct. 3 football game against Indiana.
Braylon Corbino, 17, and Dayton Frulio, 18, were recognized as the Shining Knights of The Game, an initiative from Rutgers Athletics and official health care provider RWJBarnabas Health, according to a press release. The program is designed to spotlight patients facing health challenges during Rutgers football game day.
Corbino is a high school senior and Frulio is a college freshman. The two are longtime friends and former teammates at Central Regional High School. Both have faced different forms of cancer and have supported one another as “Cancer Buddies” while navigating treatment and difficult days.

Corbino was diagnosed with a rare form of bone and soft tissue cancer in 2021, according to the press release. After relapsing in July, he is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Frulio was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2025 and underwent surgery to remove a tumor before beginning radiation and chemotherapy, according to the release.
Both are being treated by the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology team at RWJBarnabas Health's Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center and Rutgers Cancer Institute. Rutgers Cancer Institute is New Jersey's only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

During their visit to campus, Corbino and Frulio took part in a full lineup of Rutgers football game day activities. That included leading the game day parade down Scarlet Knight Way before the on-field recognition.
Corbino and Frulio were then recognized on the field alongside their families for what the release described as their strength and courage. The pair received cheers and an ovation from the crowd, according to the release.
The recognition also will extend beyond game day. According to the release, Corbino, Frulio and future Shining Knights of the Game will be enshrined in a Rutgers Athletics facility that highlights each honoree's game-day experience.
