Berkeley Beach Badges On Sale Soon, With Some Precautions

BERKELEY, NJ — Berkeley Township will soon sell preseason beach badges, while keeping the new coronavirus in mind. Badges will go on sale May 1-31 and can be used at White Sands Beach on 20th to 23rd Avenues in South Seaside Park.

White Sands Beach remains open to the public as of now. The Township will adhere to Center for Disease Control and State guidelines regarding social distancing.

Preseason beach badges cost $35 and will increase to $50 after May. Because of the coronavirus, Berkeley will sell preseason beach badges online and by mail.

"The Recreation Department expects to have lifeguards on duty for Memorial Day weekend, and every weekend in June, while opening up full time on June 20th," said Mayor Carmen Amato. "These dates, of course, may be subject to change.”

Preseason beach badges will be available for sale online from May 1-31 at www.BTREC.org. Just look for “Beach Information.” Checks can be mailed to Berkeley Recreation at P.O. Box B, Bayville, NJ 08721.

Letters must be postmarked by May 31 to receive the preseason rate. All beach badges will be available for pickup at the beach starting Memorial Day weekend, May 23rd, subject to change.

When Berkeley's municipal buildings reopen to the public, people over age 62 — with proof of age — can pick up a $15 Senior Lifetime Photo ID Badge at the Recreation Center. Photo ID badges will be available from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.
