Berkeley Man Charged With Heroin Possession, Distribution

The man was found with over five bricks of heroin, police said.

BERKELEY, NJ — A Berkeley man was arrested and charged yesterday with over five bricks of heroin, police said.

Henry McKay, 37, was arrested March 29 in Bayville. He was charged with possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public housing complex, possession of heroin and possession of CDS paraphernalia, Berkeley Township police said.

Officers found five bricks of heroin, an unnamed amount of prescription pills and associated paraphernalia used for distribution. This included scales, wax paper and over $1,500, according to police.

The Berkeley Township Police Department Detective Bureau, along with Ocean County Prosecutors Office Narcotics Strike Force, executed a search warrant on the Berkeley Gardens Apartment Complex on Frederick Drive in Bayville.

Officers began the investigation after getting quality of life complaints relating to drug activity along Route 9, police said.

McKay remains in Ocean County Jail.
