September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Mayor Carmen F. Amato and Township Council passed a proclamation that recognizes Sept. 27 as Childhood Cancer Awareness Day. The Township encourages everyone to wear gold that day to honor those fighting and those who have fought childhood cancer.
Emiliana died Dec. 1, 2015, following a six-month battle against Osteosarcoma Cancer. During her battle, she wondered why you always see pink ribbons for breast-cancer awareness but you hardly hear anything about childhood cancer in comparison.
