Berkeley Mayor, Council 2019 Primary Results

Primary races on both sides of the aisle are uncontested in Berkeley this June.

BERKELEY, NJ — Primary Election Day is here in Berkeley Township, and both the Democratic and Republican primaries are uncontested.

Unaffiliated voters could vote in the either primary and you are able to return to being unaffiliated after voting. The Ocean County Clerk's office has information.

Berkeley Township is holding elections for the mayorship and three council-at-large positions.

Mayor, Republican

  • Carmen F. Amato, Jr., 2,713 votes (99.52 percent)
  • write-in, 13 (0.48 percent)

Mayor, Democrat

  • Laura Shaw, 1,029 (99.04 percent)
  • write-in, 10 (0.96 percent)

Council-at-Large, Republican (vote for three)

  • John A. Bacchione, 2,595 (34.74 percent)
  • L. Thomas Grosse, Jr., 2,438 (32.64 percent)
  • Keith A. Buscio, 2,413 (32.44 percent)
  • write-in, 14 (0.19 percent)

Council-at-Large, Democrat (vote for three)

  • Heather B. Walsh, 997 (34.59 percent)
  • Mario Ciasulli, 951 (33.00 percent)
  • Joshua Eckersley, 915 (31.75 percent)
  • write-in, 19 (0.66 percent)

These are the candidates who will appear on the general election ballot come November, setting up a contested race then.
