Berkeley is getting a new farmers market, plus a return of its old farmers market. The Bayville tradition returns for a fifth year and will also develop a location in South Seaside Park, the township announced.

The new market will open at 2401 Central Ave., just before the entrance to Island Beach State Park, Mayor Carmen F. Amato said. It will be open May 17 through Oct. 1, Mondays and Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The farmers market will also open at its familiar location at the Recreation Center (630 Atlantic City Blvd.) on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 28 to Oct. 1.

Councilman Angelo Guadagno, chair of the Recreation Committee, was instrumental in developing the new beachside market.

"Our Bayville Farmers Market has grown bigger each year," Amato said in a statement. "We are extremely pleased and thankful for the support by our community. We are always looking to expand to other locations in the Township."

Food trucks will not be permitted at the South Seaside Park location because of limited capacity. But they're accepted at the Bayville location.
