The dogs were taken to the Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter for medical care.
BERKELEY, NJ — Two Berkeley residents were charged with 24 counts of animal neglect after leaving their dogs in "deplorable" conditions, Berkeley police announced Sunday. All 24 dogs were taken to the Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter for medical care, police said.
Police checked on Luke and Alison Peters's Moorage Avenue home Oct. 11 due to concerns of neglect, police said. Authorities found the dogs in poor conditions.
Berkeley Township Animal Control requested they voluntarily surrender their dogs because of unsafe living conditions, police said. Specifics on their living conditions weren't immediately available. Patch has requested documents for more detail on the matter.
