Berkeley Partners With Org. To Provide Meals To Residents In Need
The emergency food kits, for people struggling during the pandemic, provide a family of four with basic groceries.
BERKELEY, NJ — The Township partnered with Fulfill to provide "crisis" food kits to families in need during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. The food kits provide a family of four with basic groceries.
Berkeley Township partnered with Fulfill, formerly called the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Personnel will distribute the kits at three locations: the Berkeley Clubhouse in Holiday City, the Berkeley Recreation Center on Route 9 and the Citta Moffitt real estate office in South Seaside Park.
The pickup sites will practice social distancing and limit personal interaction. Volunteers will receive personal protective equipment and distribute food via drive-thru.

Residents will remain in their vehicle with the windows closed. The Township asks that recipients open their trunk so volunteers can place the kits. For homebound seniors or families without transportation, the emergency “crisis” food kits will be delivered.

"I have seen firsthand how many families struggle from food insecurity," said Mayor Carmen Amato, who served on the People's Pantry Board. "The COVID-19 pandemic has amplified this problem because so many more in our community are struggling. We are here to help in any way we can to help lighten the load for our families and seniors.”
