Patch asked readers for the best advice their fathers ever gave them. Here's what Berkeley had to say.

BERKELEY, NJ — Dads are known for their advice. It's part of the job, right? For Father's Day, Patch asked Facebook readers for the best piece of advice their father ever gave them. And Berkeley had plenty of responses, ranging from funny to heartfelt.

David Lerner's dad told him, "Be nice to the people on your way up, because you’ll meet the same people on the way down."

Sean Horahan's father had a bit more humorous advice, saying "Don't ever go to a scheduled fight."

There were plenty of comments sharing advice we've certainly all heard: "think before you speak," "the answer is always no if you don't ask" and "what goes around comes around."

But perhaps the best advice can be summed up with Liza Gaglio's comment - "Life is short, be happy."
