Berkeley Police Investigating Attempted Robbery At Dunkin Donuts In Bayville

Police responded to panic alarm set off by store employees, police chief says.

Berkeley police are asking for the public's help in locating a man who entered the Dunkin Donuts store on Route 9 Thursday night and demanded money from employees, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

The alarm was set around 8:40 p.m., shortly after the man demanded the money and made "threatening gestures" to the employees, the chief said.

The male then fled the area on foot on Route 9. No injuries were reported and no items were taken, the chief said.

The Ocean County Sheriffs Department Crime Scene Unit and K-9 units also responded to process the scene.
