Berkeley Recreation Posts New Fitness Classes For January
Classes include Zumba, chair yoga, POUND, interval training and more.
BERKELEY, NJ — Berkeley Township Recreation announced several new fitness classes beginning in January. Classes are $50 each and last three months, beginning the week of Jan. 6.
Register online or in person at the Recreation Center during business hours (630 Atlantic City Blvd., 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday). Here's the in-person registration form.
The classes need a minimum of six participants and hold a maximum of 30. You don't need to be a resident to sign up.

Zumba, 6 p.m. Mondays

Zumba is designed to be easy for people to follow. It's a program for everyone - people
of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. Zumba is a form of aerobic dance exercise
similar to Jazzercise; its distinctive characteristic is its use of Latin American music
and dance rhythms to create a party-like atmosphere in class sessions.
Tabata (Interval Training), 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays
Tabata training is a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout featuring exercises that last four minutes. Exercises can be modified to all fitness levels.
Beginner Yoga, 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays
The beginner class introduces alignment and breath work in a flow of postures linked together by the breath. Students will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration. Benefits of yoga include: stress relief, better breathing, flexibility, increased strength, weight management, improved circulation, cardiovascular conditioning and inner peace.
Aerobics - ABC's of Fitness, 11:15 a.m. Wednesdays
Round up your ABC’s of fitness with light Aerobics, Balance and Coordination drills. We all need our ABC’s of fitness to enhance our everyday living. You are welcome to bring light weights or use a water bottle.
POUND®, 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays

Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND® transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out. Your instructor, Lisa Pepper, will provide the Ripstix®. So let’s Pound with Pepper!
Vinsaya Yoga, 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays
Slow flow Vinyasa with guided meditation. Benefits of yoga include: stress relief, better breathing, flexibility, increased strength, weight management, improved circulation, cardiovascular conditioning and inner peace.
