Berkeley Sounds Of Summer Concert Series Returning

The popular free concert series kicks off in June at Veterans Park.

BERKELEY, NJ — Mayor Carmen Amato announced the return of Berkeley's popular Sounds of Summer concert series, kicking off on June 29.

The free concert series will take place at Veterans Park throughout the summer. The township is again partnering with radio station WJRZ, who will provide a DJ to emcee at each concert.

June 29

The opening night of the concert series will start at 6 p.m. Jersey Shore band Rock N' Rhythm, blending Doo-Wop and contemporary styles, will perform. Following will be Super TransAm, who perform 70s hits of bands like Queen, Journey and Foreigner. The night will close with a fireworks display in honor of Independence Day.

July 20

Beginning at 6 p.m., local band Jukebox Legends will perform hits from the 50s, 60s and more. They will be followed by Wanted DOA, a Bon Jovi tribute band.

August 3

The annual "Night Out Against Crime" will begin at 5 p.m., followed by two headliners. The police department, first aid squads, fire departments and other public safety agencies will be present, displaying vehicles and equipment. The DARE program will also be there with games and prizes for children.

At 6 p.m. the first headliner, Gerard Esposito, will perform, sharing music from Broadway to Vegas. He will be followed by Jukebox Heroes, chronicling music legends like The Beach Boys, The Beatles and more.

August 13

The Annual Beach Party will be held at White Sands Beach in South Seaside Park. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. reggae band The Verdict will be performing.

August 17

At 6 p.m., popular duo Julian & Dominique will perform their "show of 1,000 voices." They will be followed by Jesse Garron's Tribute to Elvis.

September 10

The finale to the concert series will run from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with Berkeley Township Community Pride Day. There will be vendors, local non-profits and community groups present selling food and showcasing products.

At 5 p.m., a 9/11 Memorial and Remembrance Ceremony will be held at the 9/11 Memorial.

Musical entertainment begins at 6 p.m. with Stiletto & the Saxman, performing hits of Doo-Wop, the Rat Pack, standards and more. At 7:30 p.m. headliner the British Invasion will perform, with hits from both sides of the Atlantic.

At 9 p.m., the summer concert series will close out with a fireworks display.

"As you can see, we have a great mix of talented groups in our summer line up," Amato said. "There's something for everyone! Please come on out for a great summer of entertainment and don't forget to bring a chair!"
