Berkeley Township Promotes 2 Police Officers
The officers were joined by family, friends and a special guest for the swearing-in ceremonies.
BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ — A pair of Berkeley Township patrol officers were promoted to sergeant during ceremonies at the Township Council meeting before Christmas.
Officers Timothy Pizzella and Robert Flanagan took the oaths to become sergeants at the Dec. 17 council meeting before family and friends at the township municipal complex. Mayor Carmen Amato administered the oaths before Police Chief Karin DiMichele and both officers were accompanied by their wives and children for the ceremony.

"(He wanted) to see just how Chief DiMichele rewards her officers," the department noted. "The Elf was not familiar with ceremonies and rank structure because in the North Pole there is only one boss and his name is Santa. (Well there is Mrs. Claus who really runs the show but no one tells Santa that!)"
"The Elf got to witness a sacred and proud police tradition," the department said. "(He) was proud and wished them well!"
