Body Found In Woods Near Double Trouble State Park

Scott Bennett, 28, of Long Branch was found Thursday evening, Prosecutor's Office says

Authorities are investigating the death of Long Branch man who was found about a mile into the woods last night near Double Trouble State Park, a spokesman from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

The body of Scott Bennett, 28, was recovered from the woods in the area of Pinewald-Keswick Road and Double Trouble Road in Berkeley Township on Thursday evening, spokesman Al Della Fave said.

A man walking his dog found the body and called police. Bennett was found sitting by a tree. There were no signs of foul play, Della Fave said.

The Prosecutor's Office is waiting for the results of toxicology reports from the Ocean County Medical Examiner's Office, Della Fave said.

No other information is expected over the next several days, he said.

The Prosecutor's Office, the Ocean County Sheriff's Department and the South Toms River and Berkeley police department responded.
