The benefits of clinical and holistic massage therapy.

Massage therapy has been recorded as a staple in clinical and holistic health care, in ancient texts and medical literature, 3,000 years ago. Manual medicine has remained with us since then and I’m sure was in effect well before 3,000 years ago too.

The emperors of Japan are credited with the earliest texts in manual form but the Egyptians have logged massage therapy on their tomb walls. These emperors had massage therapists who were a trusted part of their dynasty and were of service 24 hours/ 7 days a week.
Wikipedia references “modern medicine or Allopathic medicine to the practice of conventional medicine that uses pharmacologically active agents or physical interventions to treat or suppress symptoms or pathophysiologic processes of diseases or conditions.[1] It was coined by Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843), a homeopath, in 1810. Allopathic medicine often refers to "the broad category of medical practice that is sometimes called Western medicine, biomedicine, evidence-based medicine, or modern medicine" This practice has only been with us for the last 150 years. It blossomed with the industrial revolution. Can we know after only 150 years If this is good for us or not or should we ask the ancients who have been practicing for 3000 years.
Mainstream industrial pharmaceutical medicine, doctors and institutions have always had a difficult time categorizing the seriousness of massage therapy or attributing any “measurable“ qualities or benefits of massage therapy or manual medicine, and an even harder time with the logic of energy medicine and the emotional energy body having an effect on the physical body. Ask anybody that is receiving massage as therapy for any and all of life’s conundrums and I’ll bet they’ll say “I like my massage”. But you don’t hear that too many times from people about the medications they are taking.

Research over the past couple of years has found that massage therapy boosts immune function in women with breast cancer, improves symptoms in children with asthma, and increases grip strength in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. Giving massages to the littlest patients, premature babies helped in the crucial task of gaining weight. The benefits go beyond the feelings of relaxation and wellness that people may recognize after massage.
