Central Regional High School To Hold 3 Graduation Ceremonies

Ceremonies will take place July 8 with July 9 as a rain date.

BERKELEY, NJ — Central Regional High School will hold three graduation ceremonies. The events will take place July 8 with a rain date of July 9, according to an announcement Wednesday from Superintendent Dr. Triantafillos Parlapanides.

But junior and senior proms and the eighth-grade promotional exercise are canceled. The middle school students will have a video graduation released at 6 p.m. Tuesday on Channel 21, Facebook and Instagram.

Each high school graduation will have 120 students and three guests for each student. There will be a morning, afternoon and evening graduation, but precise times haven't been announced. More information is forthcoming.

The virtual high school graduation will still get released at 6 p.m. June 16 on Channel 21, Facebook and Instagram.

Governor Phil Murphy announced May 26 that schools could hold live graduations starting July 6. But the state's limit on the size of group gatherings made many school districts, such as Central Regional's, unsure of how they would pull it off.

Murphy lifted New Jersey's stay-at-home order Monday. The governor raised the limit on outdoor gatherings from 25 to 100, which will rise to 250 on June 22 and then 500 on July 3. The increased limits have given school districts greater flexibility to plan graduations.
