Twilight Learning Academy
The Central Regional School District has started its Twilight Learning Academy which allows students to attend high school from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Dr. Douglas Corbett, high school principal, proposed the program since he realized that there are some students that cannot succeed in a traditional high school setting. These students need a new environment without distractions in order to flourish while providing an atmosphere for growth.
Dr. Parlapanides, superintendent, added, “This program will give struggling students a new resource and different environment to strive towards their learning goals.”

The new pilot program began at the beginning of the 4th marking period. Currently, there are twelve (12) students in attendance. The program will be evaluated this summer and if deemed a success, it will continue in the next school year where it is expected to grow in size. This is a fine example of how the Central Regional School District is continually providing more opportunities for students to be successful. There are certain qualifying factors, benchmarks, and an interview process that is required to be part of the Twilight Learning Academy. Student participants work toward graduation requirements by completing course work guided by Common Core Curriculum and NJDOE Standards.
