Coastal Ocean Beach Report for June 20, 2016

Sunny skies,higher temperatures today, but rip current risk drops.

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies with temperatures in the lower 80s today.

Beach winds will be east around five miles per hour, gradually becoming south in the afternoon. The surf will be around two to three feet, with an east swell around two feet. The water temperature is still a chilly 66 degrees.

The rip current risk is low today, but strong currents can still occur near piers and jetties. Rip currents are also possible in other areas, especially during low tides. Swim only in areas where lifeguards are present and discuss any hazards in the surf zone with them.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet will occur at 8:26 a.m., followed by low tide at 2:33 p.m.,then another high tide at 8:38 p.m.
