Coastal Ocean Beach Weather Report For Aug. 24, 2016

Another nice beach day on the way.

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies and temperatures in the lower 80s today, so take advantage of this late August summer day.

Beach winds will be from the west at five miles per hour, switching over to the south and increasing to 10 to 15 miles per hour in the afternoon.

Waves will be two to three feet, with southeast swells around two feet. The ocean water temperature is 75 degrees. There is no lightning threat today.

The rip current risk is low, but strong currents can still occur near jetties, piers and other areas, especially during low tide. Swim only in guarded areas and discuss any possible surf zone hazards with the lifeguards.

The UV index today is an 8, which the NWS considers high, so bring the sunscreen.

Low tide at Barnegat Inlet was at 7:10 a.m. High tide will roll in at 1:18 pm., followed by another low tide at 8:03 p.m.
