Coastal Ocean Beach Weather Report For July 31, 2016

Mostly cloudy, showers and thunderstorms likely.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly cloudy skies with showers and thunderstorms likely and highs in the low 80s.

Beach winds will be from the southeast around 10 miles per hour. The surf will be around three feet, with southeast swells around two feet. The ocean water temperature will be a balmy 77 degrees.

The rip current risk is low for today. But strong currents can still occur near piers, jetties and other areas, especially during the low tide. Swim only in areas where lifeguards are present and discuss any possible surf zone hazards with them.

The lightning threat is high, which means thunderstorms are likely. The UV index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high. A flash flood warning is in effect for central Ocean County until 11 a.m.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet arrived at 6:09 a.m., followed by low tide at 12:20 a.m. An0ther high tide will occur at 6:33 p.m.
