Ocean water is 77 degrees today, chance of showers and thunderstorms later.

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies today with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.
The heat is still with us. High temperatures will be in the lower 90s.The heat index - the combination of temperature and humidity - will make it feel like it's 106 degrees. Beach winds will be from the southwest at about 10 miles per hour.
Waves will be around three feet, with southeast swells around two feet. The water temperature is 77 degrees.

There's a low risk of rip currents, but strong currents can still occur near piers and jetties and other areas, especially during low tide. Swim only in guarded areas and discuss any possible surf zone areas with the guards.
The lightning threat is low today, which means there is little chance on thunderstorms. The UV index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high. Don't forget the sunscreen.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet was at 5:06 a.m. Low tide will roll in at 11:13 a.m., followed by another high tide at 5:28 p.m.
