Coastal Ocean County Beach Weather Report For Aug. 15, 2016

A little cooler today, with a low risk of rip currents.

A bit of a breather today folks.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the upper 80s.

Beach winds will be from the northwest around five miles per hour, becoming northeast in the afternoon.

The surf will be around two feet, with south swells about two feet in the morning, becoming light later. The ocean water temperature is 78 degrees.

The rip current risk is low today. But strong currents can still occur near piers, jetties and elsewhere, especially during low tide. Swim only in guarded areas and discuss any possible surf zone hazards with them.

The lightning threat today is low, which means there is little change of thunderstorms. The UV index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high, so slather on the sunscreen.

High tide was at 5:56 a.m. Low tide will roll in at 12:03 p.m., followed by another high tide at 6:15 p.m.
