Coastal Ocean County Beach Weather Report For Aug. 22, 2016

A beautiful late August beach day is on the way.

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies today with highs in the low 80s.

Beach winds will be from the northwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour. There is no lightning threat.

Waves will be around three feet, with northeast swells of two feet. The water temperature is 75 degrees. The rip current risk is low. But strong currents can still occur near piers, jetties and other areas, especially during low tide. Swim only in guarded areas and discuss any surf zone hazards with the guards.

The UV index is an 8, which the NWS considers very high, so bring the sunscreen.

Low tide at Barnegat Inlet was at 5:23 a.m. High tide will roll in at 11:25 a.m., followed by another low tide at 5:56 p.m.
