Coastal Ocean County Beach Weather Report For Aug. 5, 2016

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies today with highs in the upper 70s, so take the day off if you can.

Beach winds will be light and variable this morning, switching over to southerly winds at 10 miles per hour this afternoon.

The surf will be around three feet, with southeast swells around two feet. The water temperature is 77 degrees. The rip current risk today is moderate, which means wind and or wave conditions can support stronger or more frequent rip currents.

Swim only in guarded areas and always have a flotation device with you in the water. Discuss any possible surf zone hazards with the guards.

There is no lightning threat today. Bring your sunscreen. The UV index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet will occur at 10:14 a.m. Low tide will roll in at 4:24 p.m., followed by another high tide at 10:27 p.m.

Take advantage of today. Tomorrow the heat returns briefly and so do the thunderstorms.
