Coastal Ocean County Beach Weather Report For Sept. 17, 2016

Here's one of your last chances to take advantage of a September weekend at the beach.

Most of the municipalities that still have guarded beaches will stop by the end of the month.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies with highs only in the mid-70s. Beach winds will be from the southeast at five to ten miles per hour.

Waves will be around three feet today, with southeast swells of two feet. The ocean water temperature is 73 degrees. There's a moderate risk of rip currents, which means wind or wave conditions can support stronger or more frequent rip currents. Always have a flotation device with you in the water and swim only in guarded areas. Discuss any possible surf zone hazards with the lifeguards.

There is no lightning threat today. The UV index is a 6, which the NWS considers high.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet arrived at 8:34 a.m. Low tide will roll in at 3:04 p.m., followed by another high tide at 8:57 p.m.
