Coastal Ocean County Beach Weather Report For Sept. 21 2016

Cloudy skies, low rip current risk forecast for today.

The National Weather Service is calling for cloudy skies today with highs in the upper 70s.

Beach winds will be from the northeast at five to 10 miles per hour.

Waves will be about three feet high with southeast swells around two feet. The ocean water temperature is 73 degrees. There's a low risk of rip currents today, but strong currents can still occur around piers, jetties and other areas, especially during low tide.

Swim only in guarded areas and discuss any possible surf zone hazard with the guards. Check to make sure the beach you're heading for is guarded. Many are not this late in September.

There is no lightning threat today. The UV index is a 4, which the NWS considers moderate.

Low tide at Barnegat Inlet arrived at 5:52 a.m. High tide will roll in at 11:59 a.m., followed by another low tide at 6:44 p.m.
