Cops: Three Arrested In Sloop Creek Road Drug Bust

Authorities found marijuana and drug paraphernalia after they obtained a search warrant for a home on Sloop Creek Road in Bayville recently, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Berkeley detectives, members of the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, and the Ocean County K-9 Unit conducted the raid on Feb. 23. They found narcotics, marijuana, a digital scale and packaging materials in the house, the chief said.

“It should be noted that this successful investigation was the result of concerned citizens who reported suspicious activity to police,” DiMichele said.

Police arrested Larry MacTaggart, 52, Sloop Creek Road, was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute; Jean Brewer, 57, same address, was charged with possession of a hypodermic syringe; William Faiges, 60, East Chelsea Avenue in Ocean Gate was arrested on a Berkeley Township theft warrant, DiMichele said.

All three were taken to transported to police headquarters and processed. MacTaggart and Brewer were later released. Faiges was transported to the Ocean County Jail in default of bail.
