She resided in Piscataway before moving to Bayville in the early 1980s. Dee and her late husband, William “Bill” T. Zimmermann, Jr., former mayor of Berkeley Township, owned and operated several health food stores in Ocean County.

She retired after many years of dedicated employment as a supervisor with the Ocean County Board of Elections in Toms River due to illness. She was active for many years with the Berkeley Township Democratic Club. Dee’s love for dogs was as strong as one’s love for their own child. They were her world.

Besides her parents, Dee was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Rohl, this past April. Dee is survived by her loving brothers, Richard “Dick” J. Zalewski of Littleton, Colorado, who has been by her side since the beginning of the year, and John “Jack” R. Zalewski of Neshanic Station. She will be deeply missed by two special sisters-in-law, Karen Ann Zalewski and Kim Narsavage; a dear friend, Al Simons, who has been very supportive to her throughout her illness; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Dee’s wishes of being directly cremated will be honored by her brothers.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of her brother Jack’s funeral home; Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835. Dee would like you to remember her by making a contribution to an animal shelter of your choice or by adopting a pet in her memory.
