BAYVILLE, NJ — Double Trouble State Park remains closed as of Wednesday at 10 a.m. due to a "potentially rabid fox," state park officials shared on social media.

The park will be closed "until further notice," the Department of Environmental Protection said on Aug. 31 in a Facebook post.

Double Trouble was first closed Monday evening, after a potentially rabid fox was spotted "behaving erratically" and had "encounters" with park visitors, officials said. Officials did not elaborate on whether the fox had injured visitors or other animals.
