Dump Truck Takes Down Telephone And Cable Wires On Route 9 In Lacey

Roadway is open now, but expect delays as repairs are being made overnight, police say.

Motorists heading on Route 9 may encounter traffic delays into Saturday while Verizon and Comcast crews work overnight to repair damage caused when a dump truck took down telephone and cable wires, Sgt. Paul Sullivan said.

Lacey police responded to the intersection of Route 9 and South Street at 9:05 p.m. on Friday. The operator of the dump truck owned by G & D Materials left the rear dump in the up position when he left the parking lot of 727 Route 9 North in Lanoka Harbor, he said.

The truck ripped telephone and cable wires from several poles, and the wires became tangled in the truck. Route 9 from Laurel Boulevard to Warren Avenue in Lanoka Harbor was closed and traffic detoured for two hours until the scene was cleared, Sulllivan said.
