DWI, Theft Reported During August In Berkeley: Police Blotter

BERKELEY, NJ — Berkeley police released their monthly blotter for August, outlining several incidents officers responded to.

Possession of CDS/Arrest – On August 1, 2026, Patrolman Michael Taylor and Patrolman Anthony Tuminaro responded to the area of 768 Rt.9/Quick Check for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival Patrol made contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Patrick Clayton, 39, of Berkeley Township. Clayton was found to be in possession of suspected Heroin, Meth and Crack. Clayton was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with 3 counts of Possession of Cocaine/Morphine and Possession of Paraphernalia. Clayton was transported to OCJ without incident.

DWI/Arrest – On August 5, 2026, Patrolman Justin Heffernan, Patrolman Steve Scaturro and Officer Dominick Compentello responded to the area of 70 JFK Blvd. for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival the vehicle was located with a male sleeping inside. The male, identified as Glenn Gioe, 45 of Berkeley, was displaying signs of impairment. Gioe was found to have an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. Gioe was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to submit Breath Samples, Refusal to Submit Chemical Testing, Open or Unsealed Alcoholic Beverages in Vehicle, Careless Driving and Reckless Driving, Gioe’s vehicle was impounded in accordance with John’s Law. Gioe was released pending a future court date.

Warrant/Arrest – On August 14, 2026, Patrolman Brian Bargas and Sgt. Michael Tanis responded to the area of Frederick Dr. for a report of a male laying in the roadway. Upon arrival the male who was identified as Jesse Gibson, 39, of Forked River, admitted to laying in the roadway. Gibson was found to have warrants out of Atlantic City. Gibson was also found to have a 6” knife in his belt. Gibson was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Gibson was remanded to OCJ without incident.

DWI/Arrest – On August 22, 2026, Patrolman Michael Gallicchio responded to the area of First Ave. for a report of a crash. Upon arrival it was learned that a driver of a black 2019 Nissan Altima crashed into two parked vehicles. The driver who was identified as Conrad Daley Jr., 37, of Berkeley, was found to be driving while intoxicated. Daley Jr. was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Careless Driving, Reckless Driving and Failure to Maintain Lane. Daley Jr. was released pending a future court date.

Theft/Arrest – On August 27, 2026, Patrolman Nicholas Bondulich and Officer Dominick Compentello responded to Dover Rd, for a report of theft. Upon arrival it was learned that Marcello Capra, 75, of Whiting, had stolen $100.00 worth of produce/baked goods. Capra was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with Shoplifting. Capra was released pending a future court date.
