Fire Under Investigation At County Utilities Authority In Berkeley
A tank at the Ocean County Municipal Utilities Authority caught fire Monday morning, Berkeley police said.
BERKELEY, NJ — A fire at the Ocean County Municipal Utilities Authority in Berkeley is under investigation, police said.
Police responded to the structure fire at 701 Hickory Lane at 7 a.m. Jan 8, according to a news release, after employees reported a heavy smoke condition near the fertilizer plant.
The fire was quickly suppressed and was isolated to a tank on the facility, police said. No injuries were reported and there was no property damage.

Bayville, Manitou Park, Pinewald, Pine Beach, Forked River Fire Departments and Berkeley EMS all responded.
This incident is being investigated by the Berkeley Township Detective Bureau, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Ocean County Fire Marshal's Office. The fire appears to be accidental, police said.
