Food Kits Available Thursday For Berkeley Residents In Need
The 'crisis' food kits provide a family of four with basic groceries to help those struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.
BERKELEY, NJ — Berkeley Township will distribute emergency "crisis" food kits Thursday to residents struggling during the new-coronavirus pandemic. Pickup is available at two locations, and delivery is also an option for homebound seniors and families without transportation.
Food pickup will be available from 12-1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Holiday City at Berkeley Clubhouse parking lot and the Berkeley Recreation Center (630 Atlantic City Blvd.). Because of the nature of volunteers sorting and distributing food, the Township asks that residents wait until noon to begin lining up.
Deliveries will occur from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A volunteer delivery person will have no contact with the recipient, since kits will be left at the door or porch.

Pickup sites will practice social distancing and limit personal interaction. Residents will remain in their vehicles with the doors closed and will be asked to open the trunk. Volunteers will place kits in the trunk or truck bed.
