Got Potholes? Broken Streetlights? Berkeley Govt. Wants To Know

Mayor Amato and the Department of Public Works shared easy ways to report potholes and non-operational streetlights.

If you see a pothole or a non-working streetlight, the Berkeley government wants to know. Mayor Carmen Amato and the Department of Public Works announced they are looking for the public's help in reporting both.

Berkeley Township government set up a Google Doc where residents can report potholes. Simply put your name, contact info, the date and pothole-location information.

"Each winter season we experience wear and tear on our roadways," Amato said Thursday. "We realize that the harsh winter creates numerous potholes throughout our town. We are asking for the public's assistance to let us know where these trouble spots are. This form was created and launched to make it easier for the public to report."

Amato also linked this form from FirstEnergy Corp. for reporting non-operational streetlights. Berkeley Township pays an annual fee to JCP&L for each streetlight, whether they work or not, Amato said.

Residents can also call the Department of Public Works at 732-349-4616 about potholes or defective streetlights. When calling about potholes, provide the street and nearest cross-street. When calling about streetlights, provide the street and pole number.
