BAYVILLE, NJ — Changes are coming to the once popular family spot in Bayville that has been in disrepair for several years.

Blackbeard's Cave on Route 9 used to be a great small amusement park for local families to enjoy rides, mini golf and more. However, after several difficult years, the park gave up some of its leased land and sold equipment to attempt to reopen for the 2021 season as a smaller park, but ultimately never reopened.

Since then, rumors have flooded throughout Berkeley about what would happen to the land. Patch reached out to officials to find out what's planned for this beloved spot.

The old driving range of the park has been torn down and storage units are in the process of being built on the property, Berkeley Mayor Carmen Amato told Patch.

For the rest of the property, Berkeley officials want to preserve the land, Amato said. The Berkeley Township Council previously passed a resolution asking for the county's assistance in purchasing the land for preservation.
