Island Beach State Park Closed Through Labor Day Due To Storm

Cross Island Beach State Park off your "to do" list for the rest of the sodden Labor Day weekend.

The state Department of Parks, Forestry and Historic Sites closed the park at 8 p.m. on Saturday, according to its Facebook page.

The park will be closed on Sunday and Monday, due to deteriorating weather conditions. High winds, rough surf and likely flooding from Tropical Storm Hermine are expected, the post states.

Island Beach sustained major damage from Superstorm Sandy in 2012. The park was closed for months.
