James K. Mooney Of Ocean Gate Dies At 54

Services to be held on Thursday and Friday in Bayville and Toms River

James K. Mooney, 54, of Ocean Gate, NJ died on Saturday April 4, 2015 at his home.

He was born in Newark and lived in Bayville before moving to Ocean Gate20 years ago. James was an Eagle Scout, a licensed electrician in New Jersey; member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh in Belmar; lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, and an avid boater. Jim graduated from Seton Hall Prep and attended Seton Hall University before pursuing a career with Local #68 out of West Caldwell where he worked as an Operating Engineer.

James is predeceased by his father James M. Mooney, his brother Jack Mooney and his sister Sharon (Mooney) Mackin. Surviving is his mother Mary E. Mooney of Ocean Gate, NJ; his two children Shannon Mooney of Avenel and Jimmy Mooney of Ocean Gate, his sister Maureen Mooney-Del Plato of West Orange, and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Thursday April 9, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. -to 9 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals O’Connell Chapel 706 Rt. 9 in Bayville, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday April 10, 2014 at St. Joseph RC Church Toms River. Burial will follow to Gate of Heaven Cemetery East Hanover, NJ.
