Joseph “Joe” McAteer, 58, of Beachwood, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, surrounded by his friends and family. J
Joe was born in New Brunswick and was raised in Spotswood and East Brunswick before moving to Beachwood in 1985. Joe was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years before retiring in April of this year.
Joe enjoyed spending time at Island Beach State Park and Lake George. He loved canoeing, fishing, cooking, really comfortable shirts and good music. He was a loving father to his daughter, Hayley. Joe is preceded in death by his wife, his one true love, Debi DuBois McAteer, who passed away too young in 1993. Theirs was a love story like no other. He leaves behind the light of his life, Hayley Rhyan McAteer.
