July 4th Fireworks Cause Bayville Boat Fire: Police

The vessel caught on fire in the bay around Butler Blvd and Glen Cove, New Jersey State Police said.

BAYVILLE, NJ —A boat caught on fire in the bay off of Bayville on the Fourth of July, New Jersey State Police said.

The vessel was on fire in the area of Butler Blvd and Glen Cove shortly after 9 p.m. on July 4, a NJSP spokesperson told Patch.

According to preliminary information, it was a barge that caught fire while setting off fireworks, the spokesperson said.

The fire was extinguished with no further incident and no injuries were reported, he said.
