Local Summer Begins In Ocean County: Weekend Fun
The shoulder season is here, and there's still plenty of things to do in Ocean County. Check out the festivals and fun this weekend:

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — Longtime shore residents know that Labor Day doesn't mean that summer is over. Local summer is upon us, and we can finally hit the beach without swarms of Bennies all over.
While the weather is still nice, get out and enjoy all that Ocean County has to offer. If you choose to go to the beach, make sure you only swim at guarded beaches. Four people died over Labor Day weekend at the Jersey Shore, and many of the serious incidents arose from people swimming at unguarded beaches.

Sept. 8
Who says back to school is boring? Head to Silver Bay Elementary in Toms River for their School Kick Off Carnival from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Moonlit Market returns to the New Egypt Flea Market Village from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with tons of cute shops to explore.
Sept. 9
Get your hands on some goods at the Ye Olde Clamtown Antique Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tip Seaman County Park in Tuckerton.
Pirate's Day returns to Russell O. Brackman School in Barnegat from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sailfest, New Jersey's largest sailing festival, is a day of fun from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Island Heights. Find more details here.
The 7th Annual Ocean County Irish Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Manahawkin Lake Park.
Enjoy Oktoberfest courtesy of the Lacey Township PBA #238 at Argos Farm from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Check out Tractors, Trucks & Big Stuff at the New Egypt Flea Market Village with the whole family from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Show your skills at the first annual Sandcastle Contest at Jenkinson's Beach in Point. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and judging begins at 12 p.m.
Dig into delicious treats and more at the Beach Plum Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Island Beach State Park.
