Major Heroin Drug Busts In Berkeley, South Toms River

"Pre-summer sweep" nets nearly 1,000 bags of heroin and results in six arrests.

Authorities recently seized almost a thousand bags of heroin, marijuana, $6,000 in cash and assorted drugs in a no-knock raid on five homes in South Toms River and the Manitou Park section of Berkeley, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato said.

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato announced today the culmination of a multi-jurisdictional investigation into alleged heroin drug distribution within Ocean County. In the first of three operational phases of the presummer sweep, detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group, Northern Enforcement Unit teamed with the Berkeley Township, South Toms River and Toms River Police Departments joined together to arrest six Ocean County residents on various drug charges.

The first raid came at 5:30 a.m. on May 25, after a two-month undercover investigation, followed by five no-knock search warrants for homes in South Toms River and the Manitou Park section of Berkeley Town, the prosecutor said.

The search warrants were executed at the following locations:

428 Applegate Avenue, South Toms River, the residence of Amanda Pomeroy

159 Attison Ave, South Toms River, the residence of Tashema Cottman

254 1st Avenue, Berkeley Township, the residence of Jabbar Graham

121 Belmont Drive, South Toms River, the residence of Hakim Singleton and Shaquanda Dorsey

21 2nd Avenue, Berkeley Township, a residence identified during the investigation as being utilized to facilitate the drug distribution activities of this network

Those arrested as a result of the investigation's first phase were as follows:

Tashema Cotman, 38, 159 Attison Avenue, South Toms River was charged with five counts of possession of heroin, five counts of possession of heroin under one half ounce with intent to distribute and fivecounts of distribution of heroin. Ocean County Superior Court Judge James M. Blaney, JSC set her bail at $125,000 cash. She was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River.

Amanda Pomeroy, 27, 428 Applegate Avenue, South Toms River, was charged with two counts of conspiracy to distribute heroin. Blaney set her bail at $25,000 cash. She was taken to the Ocean County Jail.

Shaquonda Dorsey, 37, 121 Belmont Drive, South Toms River, was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute heroin. Ocean County Superior Court Judge James M. Blaney, JSC set bail at $50,000, no ten percent. Ms. Dorsey was subsequently housed in the Ocean County Jail.

Hakim Singleton, 38, 121 Belmont Drive, South Toms River, was charged with four counts of conspiracy to distribute heroin. Blaney set his bail at $150,000 cash. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail.

Jabbar Graham, 38, 254 First Avenue, Berkeley Township, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to dstribute. Graham was subsequently released on a summons.

Rachael Cole, 27, 112 Charles Avenue, South Toms River, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Cole was subsequently released on a summons.
