Man Who Assaulted Bayville Woman, Stole Money, Apprehended In Lakewood

Tyler Pomeroy, 18, was arrested the day after the incident occurred.

A Toms River man was recently apprehended in Lakewood the day after he was accused of stealing money, then assaulting a Bayville woman, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Patrolman Scott Rudolph was dispatched to a Burns Drive residence in Bayville at 10:18 p.m. on Jan. 14 after a call from a woman who said a friend of hers had just stolen money. She told police that while Tyler Pomeroy, 18, Tuyahov Boulevard, was in her home when she noticed money missing from her nightstand, the chief said.

She confronted Pomeroy and found money inside his pocket. Pomeroy then became irate, assaulted her, took the money and fled the house, DiMichele said.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Canine Unit responded and conducted a search of the area, without success. Known possible addresses were contacted. Rudolph was assisted by Sgt. John Fosbre, Patrolman Warren Black, and Detective Michael Tier. A warrant was issued for Tyler Pomeroy by the Honorable James J. Gluck. He was apprehended the following day in Lakewood, DiMichele said.
