Ocean County Up 71 Coronavirus Deaths: State Officials
The Ocean County Health Department has reported 2,395 positive cases as of Monday. Here's the breakdown by town.
OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — State officials reported Monday that the novel coronavirus killed nine more people in Ocean County, raising the county's death toll to 71 people.
The Ocean County Health Department has reported 180 new cases of the virus as of 9:30 a.m. Monday, increasing the total to 2,395 positive cases. The OCHD previously reported 2,215 total cases as of 2 p.m. Sunday.
Officials have not provided further information about the people who have died in Ocean County, including the towns in which they lived.

Governor Phil Murphy announced 3,663 new cases and 86 more deaths Monday. Murphy noted a decline in the growth rate in cases — from 24 percent day-over-day last Monday to 12 percent this Monday. "The curve is flattening," Murphy said. "But, this is no time to spike any footballs or to take our foot off the gas. We still have a week-and-a-half to go, at least, until we hit the peak. This isn't over — not by a long shot."
Drive-thru testing appointments will continue this week at Ocean County College. Residents must schedule appointments in advance and meet the following requirements:
- You must be an Ocean County resident and have identification.
- You must have a physician's prescription
- You must make an online appointment at www.ochd.org.
- You must be symptomatic.
- You should enter the Ocean County College campus from the Hooper Avenue entrance.
The site allows for 216 daily appointments.
