Ocean County Grand Jury Indicts Plumsted Man For Murder Of His Wife Of 20 Years

An Ocean County grand jury has indicted a Plumsted Township man for the stabbing murder of his wife of 20 years, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

The grand jury recently indicted Arthur Haskoor, 57, for murder, possession of a weapon (a knife) for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, spokesman Al Della Fave said.

Haskoor has been in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River since the Aug. 25, 2015 incident on $1 million cash bail. He faces 30 years to life on the murder charge, Della Fave said.

The incident began when New Egypt High School officials received information at 10 a.m. that morning that there was a domestic dispute at 120 Evergreen Road in Plumsted. School officials called 911 and members of the Plumsted Township Police Department responded, he said.

Police found Susanne Haskoor, 48, lying on the driveway dead of stab wounds. They found a note on the front door saying there were guns in the house and the occupant would kill them, Della Fave said.

One of the couple's two sons later confirmed his father had at least six weapons in the home, he said.

Resources from Ocean County Northern Regional SWAT Team, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, Plumsted Township Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff's Department, and the New Jersey State Police were called and established a perimeter to contain the barricaded occupant. At approximately 2:30 pm A camera-equipped robot entered the home at 2:30 p.m. and found Haskoor unresponsive in the garage, Della Fave said.

Haskoor suffered serious, but non-life threatening self-inflicted injuries and was treated at Capital Health Regional Trauma Center in Trenton. The couple had been married for 20 years with two sons,, ages 17 and 18.
